Bon tardi/dia/nochi,

As my knowledge of the orthography of Papiamentu isn't sufficient enough to write articles (despite being able to speak it) I would like to request the article w:nl:Chinese kèpèng into Papiamentu. Or maybe an article with little text but easy to utilise lists such as w:nl:Vietnamese văn where the most tedious effort would probably have to be put in making “Lê-dynastie” into “Dinastia Lê” and such. Well if you’re interested feel free to translate them. B.T.W. You can reply in Papiamentu, I can understand it(, just not write it 😅) .

Also in the article Vietnam the term “Ho Chi Minh City” is used, shouldn’t this be “Siudad Ho Chi Minh”? It just seems odd to use an English word for a place that isn't even Anglophone. --Donald Trung (talk) 10:47, 1 yanüari 2018 (UTC)

I'm a Dutch Wikipedian in Residence for Unesco and will soon do a Wikipedia-training for Wikipedia-trainers from the ABC-Islands. Unesco's main goal is to expand the information on the Dutch Wikipedia about the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao on the Dutch Wikipedia and especially about the colonial history of the island. The new contributors might find it fun to edit the Papiamento Wikipedia as well!

I would like to talk to you about the Papiamento Wikipedia, so that I can explain it correctly: there might be some differences between the Dutch language Wikipedia and the Papiamento one, though your Wikipedia does not seem very busy at the moment.

New contributors (continued)

Hi Dwerg85, I'm an editor on the Dutch Wikipedia and since October 2018 also a contributor on the Papiamentu Wikipedia. As you are aware codes/templates between the projects differ. I have been working initially from my Dutch kladblok but meantime have moved my drafts to my Papiamentu sandbox. However, I have been unable to find templates related to sandbox use. My sandbox pages and drafts are now appearing online in statistics etc. and also I do not know how to clear articles after they have been uploaded. Helpful will be the equivalent to Dutch templates: noindex, nowiki and nuweg. Can you indicate where these can be found? Are there also moderators active on this project? Hi Caribiana, to be very honest this wiki hasn't kept up with necessary templates, so it's not surprising that you're not finding them. In essence we need someone with knowledge of wiki and Papiamentu (and time) to make these. Haven't had any volunteers make themselves known yet. Uitnodiging voor een technische Workshop ter verbetering van Wikipedia Papiamentu

Beste moderator van de Papiamentstalige Wikipedia Dwerg 89

Als moderator van de Papiamentstalige Wikipedia benaderen wij u met goed nieuws, namelijk dat wij vanuit de University of Curaçao ondersteuning gaan bieden met het onderhoud hiervan! De Papiamentstalige Wikipedia is aan een verbetering toe. De verbeteringen betreffen o.a. het aanmaken, uitbreiden, vertalen van artikelen alsook de onderhoud en toezicht hiervan. In het kader van het programma Wiki goes Caribbean, met als doel het bijdragen met artikelen over Curaçao voor Wikipedia Nederland, hebben wij de verbetering van de Papiamentstalige Wikipedia ook opgepakt. Wij hebben hiervoor ook de steun gekregen van Wikipedia Nederland.

Vanwege uw betrokkenheid met Wikipedia, willen wij u graag uitnodigen voor een workshop op 21 November aanstaande, waarbij bepaalde Wikiwizards bij elkaar zullen komen om te werken aan de verbeterpunten van de Papiamentstalige Wikipedia.

De specifieke aandachtspunten zijn:

het aanstellen van één of meerdere moderatoren;

Het in de gaten houden van de aanmaak van nieuwe artikelen en aanpassingen op bestaande artikelen ;

het aanpakken van vandalisme op bestaande artikelen;

informatie over technische aspecten, zoals de verbetering van de vertaaltool voor het vertalen van andere talen naar het Papiamentu, Papiamentu toevoegen voor infoboxen, automatische invulling vanuit wikidata, het opzetten van een categorieboom, sjablonen, etc.;

organisatorische aspecten, zoals zorgen dat een nieuw artikel eerst goedgekeurd wordt voordat het gepubliceerd wordt, verwijder procedures opstellen, tekort aan mankracht en expertise door koppelingen te maken met andere wikimedianen of bepaalde taken voorlopig uit te laten voeren door bepaalde mensen, etc.

Deze eerste workshop zal zowel een oriënterend als een informatief karakter hebben, en zal als basis dienen voor het opzetten van vervolg trainingen indien nodig.

The WMF language team is reaching out to you based on your position as an admin in the Papiamento Wikipedia. In particular, we want to learn about your experience, the issues you encounter with articles created with Content translation.

We appreciate the great work you are doing in Papiamento Wikipedia to ensure standard and quality articles are not compromised. However, it is a big task to encounter content that is not standard daily, and a difficult decision to delete them because they fall below standard.

Our observations

We noticed that articles created with the Content Translation tool in your wiki are deleted more frequently than in other Wikipedias. We say this because, from our statistics, 117 articles were added to Papiamento Wikipedia in 2020. Out of the above figure, only 1 of them were translated using the Content Translation tool; 2 of the articles added with Content translation were deleted. Therefore, the deletion rate and the tool's low usage signals a problem or deficiencies peculiar to your Wikipedia. The Content Translation tool can increase content creation in your Wikipedia and is an excellent way to efficiently introduce newcomers to adding content and expand on existing ones.

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
